A New Hound In Heaven!

Yup.
We got this new hound last September.
Oh what was I thinking!
I work 3 days in a week now
(I consider this as full time work ;-))

So you wondered why and how this can happen:
That is my 10 year old superdog Sweepy's paw on the right.
On the left is Babur's paw.
A month old pup brought by our former maid to our house
knowing I won't be able to say no to adoption.

Of course Myrna, our former maid, is wrong.
I always say no to adoption
especially when I had several dogs
and the knowledge that I would not be able to care well for them.
I may love animals but I can say no to them.

But when Babur was sent to me . . .
 , , , , I said yes right away!
Sweepy is the only dog left (Sumo passed away)
and how can I say no to a face like this:

I'm a sucker for cute faces.
I know I am too busy to adopt now
but so what!

There is always room for love . . .
. . . just as I hope my superdog Sweepy will also find room in his heart for it.

Super update next time , , ,

The Mandevilla in Heaven

. . . is the witness to the turbulent weather we had for months!

. . . for even during the hot days as the sun shone on us
the rainy month of June to August
showered us with sudden rains
filling up the buds of Mandevilla!

I come home knowing the plants were watered by nature . . .
as if helping me keep up with domestic chores
when I am away working . . .

I am reassured knowing in my absence
its inner core are caressed and nurtured by the power of the sun!

. . . as new buds kept sprouting in such harsh weather . . .

. . . and surviving merrily on its way . . .

And just like the Mandevilla . . .
the rest of Heaven is OK.
We were all busy with work commitments
(I trouble-shoot ailing art groups and projects)
and I simply leave everything to God
to watch my Heaven and my hounds
as I merrily survive the changing energies . . .
 Heaven is OK.
Even if at times I am not always here . . .

And to all those who sent us happy notes
thank you for such loving and warm energies!
Heaven is special because you all made it so.

Sweepy just competed in the pet olympics
and you can see his action HERE.

Leo

 Meet Leo.
Again.
People say I only feed stray animals.
Well, I also feed Leo.

 My dog Sweepy gets antsy
when people stay at our gate.
Dogs are protective of their territory
and even if Leo is a regular visitor at our gate
he gets barked at by Sweepy.
Sigh.
Leo is deaf mute but we understand each other.
Leo would simply make a sign language
and I knew instantly that he is hungry.
I can't afford to adopt but I surely can afford to feed Leo
whenever he visits . . .

I am doing some illustrations when Leo passed by
so I invited him to join me:
I started writing his name and mine
and he got them perfectly.
I figured he must have studied in a school.
I thought he is a stray kid who lives in the slum (informal dwellers)
but in my community some of these kids go to the public school.

Then Leo made a drawing of a house.
He indicated that it was something he wanted.
A big house with trees, animals, a car, fruits, etc.
Then he was done drawing.
He had his snacks earlier
and now it is time to move on . . .

Leo made this drawing of me!
He seemed proud to make me his friend.
Just as I am to be his.

So you see I try to extend a hand to passersby down Heaven.
And even if Sweepy growls angrily
he surely is proud to call my attention
to people like Leo
and cats like Petrocelli.

Btw, Sweepy is part of the pet olympics.
Check out his blog!

How To Mix Heaven

You start with a good manual ice crusher.
It does not require batteries or electricity
but just your eager and excited hands!
With good efforts I can produce fine crushed ice
which I happily scoop on a bowl.
Then I top it with sweetened boiled kamote (sweet potato) . . .
. . . and followed by sweetened boiled bananas:
. . . and followed by sweetened boiled langka (jackfruit):
Then I top it with more ice:
I actually cover the whole thing with ice:

An top it with sago:

And top it with ube (purple yam) ice cream
not unless I have the real mashed ube . . .

And sprinkle pinipig (rice crispies) over it:

Mix everything with love:

And I got myself my own home-made Halo-halo
which I can have by demand right from the fridge:
Yum!

This cool summery delight is called Halo-halo which stands for mixed concoction (mostly fruits) on a bed of crushed ice. I like to think of halo-halo to best describe our culture of mixed inspiration from our neighboring east and from the west.

In my tropical country it is always a welcome snacks. And my sister Luchie would always try to prepare some ingredients which are then cooled in the fridge so we can  have halo-halo any time we like!

I like halo-halo in the afternoon.
After a break from creative work
it provides a good chillout snacks.
I only wish my dog Sweepy can have some
but he can only have his own flavored yogurt
which he finishes fastbreak in a minute
before I can even take my second taste of halo-halo!

Petrocelli in Monochrome

I am updating this post.
Originally I planned on linking to Dragonstar
but failed to do it. . . .

To regular readers of my blog
Petrocelli is a stray cat we feed on the roof.
Why the roof?
I have a superdog (whatever it means!)
and quite protective of strangers.

So on most days I call for Petrocelli.
I see him hurrying from across the street.
I must tell you that I have a loud voice ;-)
Petrocelli probably can hear me from wherever he is in our neighborhood!
Now after rushing, he takes a breather and watches me from the fence!

And after catching his breath, Petrocelli jumps to the walls!
 Sweepy is not pleased.
I am kindda amused when Sweepy barks
because it provides great exercise for a senior dog ;-)

Sweepy then rushes to the other side of the walls
to anticipate Petrocelli . . .
 . . . and there he goes!
Petrocelli takes a second rest to give Sweepy a bored look ;-)

And after laughing out loud from this exploits
I rush my treat to Petrocelli (tuna sausage!)
I hauled in his direction!

Petrocelli catches it and takes his exit.
His treat is our little secret ;-)

Although I doubt if my superdog Sweepy knows.
After all, he is not super for nothing. . .

MultiMedia Mind

This is the kitchen in the back of the house.
This is not my turf simply because my sisters does most of the cooking.
But this week I was left alone to fend for myself
and the first order of the day is to prepare my meals!

I got these stuff from the vegetable bin while toying with several ideas for some creative projects and the schedules that I need to confirm later . . .

I decided to add some more veggies and thought that maybe I should just make a pasta dish. I also thought that maybe I should give my dog Sweepy a bath! And I suddenly got flash random images that I needed to add to my mixed media project!

But just then I heard Petrocelli, the stray cat on the roof, which we feed regularly. I decided to get some tuna sausages to add to my pasta dish and maybe some cheese?
I gathered the peelings and got a slice of the sausage and carried all of these to take outside of the kitchen . . .
The peelings go to the compost pit where my trees Yvon and Chicky and my dead pets are buried . . . AND a piece of the tuna sausage for Petrocelli's appetizer ;-)

On the way back to the kitchen I excitedly remembered some art events that I need to schedule for the week, decided against giving Sweepy a bath, decided to move some stuff from one room to the other while wondering how long will this kitchen episode last until I can get back to real work!
. . . so in between sauteeing my ingredients for the pasta dish, I returned some text messages, answered a phone call, retrieved the mails from the postman at the gate, gave Sweepy a hug, gave Petrocelli some water, wrote down my earlier ideas for my painting project and as soon as the pasta dish was cooked, my mind was on overdrive the whole time!

Yes, I am super hyperactive.
Last February when my alpha dog Sumo died and I was doing several projects, my throat got swollen. My throat is the first area that suffers from my hyper self when something grave happens and I am busy working on several projects.

Another thing that gets affected are my gadgets:
my mobile phone, Luchie's PC, my PC, Sweepy's phone
(yes, my superdog has his own phone!)
and the laptop that belonged to my friend
(I help manage some sites and that got affected too!)

Thoughts and gadgets exude energies
that, even if unseen, does go into a haywire mode
and affect each other . . .

The climate goes from super hot to rainy
and schedules are broken and set
and friends come and go
the new ones inquire together with the old ones
and one wonders why, inspite of the confusion,
life goes on
and so is mine.

Suffice it to say
I'm OK and enjoying the sabbatical . . .
